Landlocked in the heart of Europe, Austria runs from the Alps in the west down to Vienna and the Danube in the east. For six centuries it was the heart of the mighty Hapsburg Empire, which at its peak included what is now Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic along with much of Romania, Bulgaria and the Balkans. يقع خليج هالونغ شمال شرق فيتنام، ويبعد 165 كيلومتراً عن هانوي، ويمتد بطول 120 كيلومتراً، وتبلغ مساحته 1553 كيلومتراً مربعاً، وفيه اكثر من 2000 جزيرة مختلفة الاشكال والاحجام، معظمها مكونة من الحجر الكلسي.
وتكون الحجر الجيري عبر 500 مليون سنة في ظروف وبيئات مختلفة، تحت تأثير المناخ الاستوائي الرطب।
