 The animals in Rotterdam Zoo are surrounded by their natural habitat. There is a tropical forest with rhinos and tapirs; Asian animals in a Malaysian jungle and you can travel through the oceans.
Rotterdam Zoo is specialized in rare and endangered species and has a number of special breeding programs. For example for the endangered Indian elephant.

Blijdorp is one of the most beautiful zoos in Europe, with plenty to see and do. Blijdorp is home to giraffes, gorillas and polar bears and more, all of which have their own unique living quarters. One of the highlights is the Oceanium, where you can literally walk among the fish. Blijdorp offers various journeys of discovery, activities for all age groups, guided tours and Blijdorp Happenings. One such special Happening is the ‘Blijdorp by Night’ evening, which includes a guided tour that enables you to see the animals at dusk. The zoo also has various restaurants and snack kiosks. Blijdorp is also a really exciting place to celebrate your birthday!

Het prachtige aquarium van diergaarde Blijdorp in Rotterdam, waar je je letterlijk tussen de haaien kunt begeven. Met de cursisten van mijn Blijdorp FOTOpraktijkDAGEN mag ik hier graag enige tijd vertoeven. Want het is een ideale plek om te laten zien dat je niet bang hoeft te zijn van lange sluitertijden. Neem deze: hier heeft de camera 20 volle seconden open staan, met f/16 voor maximale scherptediepte. Op ISO 100 en met de Sigma 12-24mm (op 12 mm) groothoek op een Canon 30D. De man op zijn knieeën zat daar niet de volle twintig seconden, dat is duidelijk. En dat geeft juist een erg leuk effect.
