5 - Kuala Lumpur

" "

Kuala Lumpur (KL) is one of Asia's most cosmopolitan and modern cities. Over the last 10 years KL has been transformed into a modern thriving metropolis with spectacular buildings like the Petronas Towers and extensive shopping. Unlike many Asian cities, KL still has many beautiful old buildings from a bygone era, green areas and friendly charm. A unique blend of old colonial and new Asian where Chinese tea houses, Indian shops and Malay hawker stalls line streets next to world-class hotels and super hi rise office blocks

Menara Kuala Lumpur was completed in May 1996 and was opened to the public on 23 July 1996. It was officially launched on 1 October 1996, by Y. A. Bhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Surrounding the tower is the Bukit Nanas Forest Recreational Park, an area of 11.05 hectares located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City. It poses as the oldest gazetted forest reserve in the country.
