The National Museum, built in 1887, is Singapore’s oldest museum while maintaining its modern, contemporary edge. Visitors can lay eyes on the 12 national treasures as well as the Singapore history and living galleries, which present history and culture in engaging and novel ways. The museum also opens it doors to festivals and events throughout the year, with highlights such as the annual Night Festival. The National Museum is also home to a range of F&B outlets and a specialized museum shop, which has unique Singaporean souvenirs for sale.
Admission to all national galleries and permanent exhibitions is free for Singaporean residents and PRs from 18 May 2013.
Admission is free to visitors under 6 years old, Singaporean and PR senior citizens, full-time NSFs, students and teachers from local schools.
