Belo Horizonte Brazil

" "

Founded in 1897, the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte is surrounded by mountains and built on rolling hills and is the 3rd largest city in Brazil. Belo Horizonte is the capital of Minas Ferais state and is home to almost 2.4 million people.

Belo Horizonte or "Beaga" as it is better known comes from the Portuguese language and means "beautiful horizon". It's mapped with well organised tree-lined streets even though these roads rise and fall not so unlike they do in San Fransisco, California. Sometimes this can be confusing to the unsuspecting tourist so it's good to be aware of landmarks when winding your way around.

There is also a significant amount of green space found in the city and the locals take pride in that and often wile away afternoons in the parks dotting the area.

The 852m elevation helps a little in cooling the city down but the Belo Horizonte climate s tropical altitude with average temperatures around 18 degrees to roughly 23 degrees celsius. In Belo Horizonte Brazil September sees the beginning of spring, summer falls in December, autumn in March and winter in June.

Though there are defined seasons in this region, many people look at it as they would any other tropical or sub-tropical location-hot and hotter! The coldest month is usually July and the hottest is usually January with the highest temperatures recorded of 35.4C.

Belo Horizonte Brazil has alot of really interesting cultural landmarks. The neighborhood is a planned one and surrounds a man-made lake with lots of contemporary Brazilian architecture to check out. Belo Horizonte Brazil also benefits from a "School and Community Vegetable Planting Project" which encourages the local people to grow food on unused and underused plots of land. When choosing your hotel Belo Horizonte offers a great selection .

From five star hotels to mid-range accommodation and self -service flats you can find exactly what you"re looking for to suit your needs. Whatever your choice of hotel Belo Horizonte encompasses a lively cultural calender and hectic night life with discos, open air bars and an excellent variety of restaurants which are action-packed throughout the evenings and into the night.. The Savassi district is noted for its array of upscale clubs and discos with entertainment usually beginning later in the evening and continuing into the wee hours of the morning.
